Background and Experience
Ms. Whetten Soroa works with both employment and family-based immigration matters.
Before law school, Ms. Whetten Soroa built a strong foundation in immigration law as a volunteer Case Manager at the No More A Stranger Foundation. During her time at BYU Law, she deepened her expertise through the Community Legal Clinic, where she prepared a variety of USCIS applications, including Adjustment of Status (AOS), DACA, TPS, and T visa cases. She was also selected to serve as Chief Lead Fellow during her final two semesters.
Ms. Whetten Soroa gained hands-on experience across multiple areas of immigration law through internships at several organizations. At Fragomen’s Salt Lake City office, she drafted legal arguments and prepared petitions for business visas such as EB-2 NIWs, L-1B, and O-1B. She also worked on SIJS findings and TPS petitions at Catholic Community Services of Utah. Her final law school internship at Perretta Law Office introduced her to EOIR procedures and removal defense.
Beyond immigration law, she further sharpened her advocacy skills by clerking for Justice Diana Hagen on the Utah Supreme Court and winning first place in BYU Law’s 1L Trial Advocacy competition.
Ms. Whetten Soroa is fluent in English and Spanish and conversant in Portuguese. Outside of work, she and her husband can often be found personal training their twelve-year-old pug, Jack, through his weight-loss journey.
