Ms. Gaertner, born in Curitiba, Brazil, earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from the University of Utah and her Juris Doctor from the Sturm College of Law at the University of Denver. She is admitted to the Colorado State Bar.

Background and Experience

Mrs. Gaertner is a Partner at Gaertner Torres PLLC, where she represents employers and individuals in a broad range of U.S. immigration matters, with a primary focus on business immigration.

 

Her practice includes nonimmigrant and immigrant strategies for companies and professionals, including E-2 (investors), F-1 (international students), H-1B (specialty occupation), H-1B1, L-1A/L-1B, L-1 blanket petitions, O-1, P-1, TN, PERM labor certifications (EB-2/EB-3), EB-2 National Interest Waivers (NIW), and employment-based adjustment of status and consular processing. She also advises employers on workplace immigration compliance, including Form I-9 completion, internal I-9 reviews, and audit preparedness, and assists individuals and families with family-based immigration matters.


Mrs. Gaertner has advised S&P 500 companies and other employers on immigration strategy and compliance, supporting workforce planning, onboarding practices, and risk management related to employment authorization verification.


Prior to founding Gaertner Torres PLLC, Mrs. Gaertner practiced as an associate attorney at Wilner & O’Reilly, APLC in Salt Lake City, where she handled a wide range of employment-based immigration cases and supported corporate clients with complex filings and case management. She also served as an Attorney Advisor at the Aurora Immigration Court within the Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR) at the U.S. Department of Justice, where she researched legal issues and drafted decisions in complex removal proceedings.


During law school, Mrs. Gaertner volunteered with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), the Rocky Mountain Immigrant Advocacy Network (RMIAN), and the Denver Immigration Court. She served as a research assistant, authored multiple articles on “crimmigration” topics, and was a staff editor for the Criminal Law Review.
Mrs. Gaertner is admitted to the Colorado State Bar and is fluent in English, Portuguese, and Spanish.


Outside of work, Mrs. Gaertner enjoys playing and watching soccer, reading, hiking, traveling, and spending time with her wife and their two French Bulldogs, Louis and Leon.
